I want to introduce myself and give you some background on how I came to be a Nutritional Therapist.
I’m Alex. I’m a Registered Nutritionist and Naturopath MBANT, CNHC. Before training to become a Nutritional Therapist, I was a trained chef and former cookery teacher working at some of London’s top cookery schools. During my teaching days, I came to realise that my underlying passion has always been about health and nutrition. A life changing event made me even more determined to follow my dreams and that’s when I embarked on training for 4 years at the renowned College of Naturopathic Medicine in London. I haven’t looked back since. My approach is balanced, practical and realistic and I’m a busy, working mother so I know what it’s like to juggle many balls and I appreciate the challenges people face in their everyday lives. I like to think I inspire and motivate people to start making themselves important in their own lives.
I haven’t always done this myself and I now know from personal as well as professional experience that this is so important in achieving long term health and happiness. As someone who has struggled, I can empathise when things get tough for others. I’ll be honest here, I have got better with age. Yes, I’m 49, but I feel healthy, fit, strong, balanced, happy and the best I have felt for a long time. I post helpful health and lifestyle tips on here, social media, Instagram and Facebook and share many recipes and cookery tips which will help you to take care of yourself. I always think that if a post helps just one person then it has been worth it. But, this part is not my ‘job’, as I run clinics in Balham and central London seeing clients for one-to-one consultations as well as writing articles, running workshops and other projects. My aim is to help people make long term improvements to their health. I work with clients looking at what they eat, how they sleep, exercise and move, how they adapt and cope with stress and how positive psychology can help them to feel their best. I want to encourage people to be the best versions of themselves and live their lives to the full. The feedback I get from clients inspires and encourages me. I love my job as a Nutritional Therapist and find it so rewarding helping people to make positive and long term changes to their lives.
